What you need to know to Plant & Grow As a bush variety, this squash requires less space than traditional vining winter squash but still needs rich, warm soil. Sow Outdoors: Direct sow seeds into rich, well-drained soil after all danger of frost has passed and the soil is thoroughly warm (late May to early June). Plant seeds in hills or rows. Sow Indoors (Optional): Start seeds indoors 3 to 4 weeks before transplanting using biodegradable pots to minimize root disturbance. Germination: Seed typically germinates in 7 to 10 days. Planting Depth: 2.5 cm Seed Spacing: 25 cm Thin to: 50 cm Row Width: 100 cm Provide a site with Full Sun and consistently moist soil.
